Zodiac Man

Ashmole 391 (Part 5) includes a lavish illumination of a zodiac man, whose colourful diapered red and blue background is contained within a gilded border that separates the image from the text. The manuscript's author is Nicholas of Lynn, an English astronomer who published a Kalendarium of astronomical tables for the years 1387-1462. This gives the manuscript a terminus post quem of 1387.
