Porter's note

Commentary

Porter's note

I arrived at Queen’s some months early in order to look for accommodation in Oxford, and was allowed to stay for a few nights in College.

When I received this note from the porter, with its P.S. saying, 'You have the distinction of being the first female student to arrive at The Queen’s College to study as this has always been a male college', I was really touched, because it made me feel part of something quite significant. There was a big sea change for women, and I was a small part of that. It was such a thoughtful gesture on his part.
